Lawsuit Alleges Uber Withheld Information Demanded by Court Orders

A lawsuit filed by a former contractor claims that Uber Technologies Inc. violated federal law by intentionally withholding information when responding to subpoenas, search warrants, and court orders. The lawsuit, filed by Soha Malik seeking nearly a quarter-million dollars in back wages and damages, says the company fired her from her contract job helping it file responses to hundreds of official demands for information related to various incidents after she raised concerns that its responses were not sufficient to satisfy court orders. Her suit alleges that company managers instructed her to “give out as little information as possible since their job was ‘to protect the client.’” Uber faces hundreds of lawsuits related to allegations against drivers involved in vehicle crashes, sexual assaults, and other causes of action. This information was first reported by Ethan Baron of the San Jose Mercury News.
